The Allegheny SAF has a membership of 1,100 professional foresters in the five states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. 

Since 1900, the Society of American Foresters has provided access to information and networking opportunities to prepare members for the challenges and the changes that face natural resource professionals.

Allegheny SAF Summer Training 2019

 

The Western Gateway Chapter will be hosting the Allegheny Division Annual Summer Meeting on August 21 - 23, 2019. The theme is “Restoring Scarred Landscapes and Preserving a Hallow Site”.

Allegheny SAF Summer Training 2018

 

The Allegheny SAF Summer Training 2018 will be hosted by The Northern Hardwood Chapter, August 8-10, 2018, in Bradford PA.

Theme: Restoration Forestry of Disturbed Forests on the Allegheny Plateau

LocationUniversity of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Bradford, PA — Frame-Westerburg Commons

Accommodations are available to stay on campus in 2 bedroom dorm suites with a full kitchen: $140/night, tax included, each bedroom has either 2 twin beds or one king bed, they will match up people in suites if desired. Other hotels in Bradford are available at a range of prices: Best Western Plus, Comfort Inn, Econo Lodge, Holiday Inn Express.

Allegheny SAF Summer Training 2017

 

The Allegheny SAF Summer Training 2017 will be hosted by The Plateau Chapter, September 20 - 22, 2017, 45 Holiday Inn Road, Park Inn, Clarion, PA

Theme: “SILVAH: 50 Years of Practicing Sustainable Forestry and Counting”

On Wednesday, September 20, there will be an optional field tour to Kane Experimental Forest and surrounding landscape. Topics will include: SILVAH guidelines for regeneration, vegetation management, thinning, current research on deer impact, changes in regeneration ecology, forest health, fertilization, wildlife habitat, and carbon sequestration. (Bus transportation and box lunch will be provided as part of the Optional Wednesday Field Tour. Space may be limited. Register early.)
